  • [S684] List of prisoners delivered by the Shawanese at Fort Pitt, Thomas Gage Papers, 10 May 1765, William L. Clements Library, University of Michigan, 909 South University, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Lieutenant General Thomas Gage was commander in chief of the British forces in North America, 1763-1775. The list is part of his correspondence received and other papers created while he was in that post, a collection of some 70 lineal feet purchased by the library in 1937. Photocopies obtained from the Library Feb 2004.

The author attributes the account of the events of the Clendenin attack to Ann Clendenin's daughter, "Mrs. Maiz, who now lived near this place" and says the account was "likewise confirmed by several others." This interview apparently took place in 1824, some 60 years after the event.
