     Nellie Oetzel was born on 15 Jul 1889 in Illinois.5,6,7 She appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, in the household of her parents, Adam Oetzel and Caroline Glabe.3

     Nellie married Philip Ropp, son of Amos Ropp and Mary Kennel, about 1907.8,9,10
     Nellie and Philip moved to Indiana after their marriage. They appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Boone Twp., Cass Co., Indiana, enumerated 5 May 1910, reporting they rented their farm.13
     Nellie and Philip moved to Michigan before 1918. They appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Imlay Twp., Lampeer Co., Michigan, enumerated 17 Jan 1920, reporting they owned their farm, which was mortgaged.14
     They appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Imlay Twp., Lampeer Co., Michigan, enumerated 22 Apr 1930, reporting they owned their farm and had a radio.15
     Nellie and Philip appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Imlay Twp., Lampeer Co., Michigan, enumerated 15 May 1940, reporting they owned a home valued at $1,500, and had lived in the same house in 1935. Also listed as living with them was a housekeeper, Laura Gerlach, a 47-year old widow.16
     Her husband died in Mar 1969.17,18
     Nellie died on 11 Feb 1972 at age 82.11,12 She was buried in Farmdale Cemetery, Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois.11
