It seems likely he was actually living there and omitted from the census record somehow, but there is no way to know if that is correct.¹³
     Sarah was named an heir in the will of her father, dated 16 Feb 1881 in Halifax Co., VirginiaG, to received one dollar. Her son Conrad was to receive a one-third share in the proceeds of the sale of his real and personal property.¹⁴
     Sarah married William S. Purkins, son of George W. Purkins and Sarah J. Marton, on 2 Jun 1881 in Halifax Co., VirginiaG.³
     Sarah died between 1887, when her daughter Mary was born, and 1900, when her husband was living with his cousin and shown as widowed, and her two older children were living with her sister Mary. It might be supposed she and Mary died soon after the child's birth, but no record of her death or that of the daughter has been found. The Halifax Co. death records from 1887 to 1896 have been searched and neither has been found in those or any other records.⁸
