Dukes County, Massachusetts

Originally, Dukes County of New York, formed in 1683, transfered to Massachusetts in 1691. A part of the New York County was split of to form Nantucket County, the rest formed as a Massachusetts County in 1695. Named because it originally was land owned by the Duke of York.
