Kish (1 Sam)1

M, #2090901
Father*Abiel (1 Sam 9,14)
Mother*Maacah (1 Chron 8-9)
Relationship10th cousin 15 times removed of Robert Michael Damon
ReferenceB99-3791
Kish (1 Sam) was the son of Abiel (1 Sam 9,14) and Maacah (1 Chron 8-9). Kish (1 Sam) was buried in Zela, Benjamin.2
He became the father of King Saul of Israel (1 Samuel) 1080 BCE.3
There seems to be some confusion in the text about Ner.

We have Jeiel (1 Chron 8-9) as the father of both Ner and Kish (1 Sam) (1 Chronicles 8:29) (2 Samuel 14:51 names the father Abiel, likely and alternate name)
We have Ner as the father of Kish (1 Sam) (1 Chronicles 8:33)
We have Kish (1 Sam) as the father of Saul (many places)
We have Ner as the uncle of Saul (1 Samuel 14:50)

It seems that only 1 Chronicles 8:33 puts Ner in the line. Since father son relationship sometimes skips generations, there could be a second Ner here, except that would put two Ner under Jeiel/Abiel, so unlikely. My best guess is that 1 Chronicles 8:33 is just in error.4
