King Charles I (of Sicily) was born on 21 March 1226/27 in Paris, Isle De France.1,2 He was the son of King Louis VIII "the Lion" (of France) and Princess Blanche (of Castile).1,2 King Charles I (of Sicily) married first Beatrice (of Savoy), daughter of Count Raymond Berenger V (IV) (of Provence & Forcalquier) and Beatrice (of Savoy), on 31 January 1246.2 King Charles I (of Sicily) died on 7 January 1285 at Foggia Castle, Foggia, Apulia, Italy, at age 57.1,2 He was buried in Napoli, Apulia.1,2
He became King of Naples, Sicily and Jerusalem.2 Charles I's father King Louis VIII "the Lion" (of France) died on 8 November 1226 in Montpensier-en-Auvergne, France.2 Charles I's mother Princess Blanche (of Castile) died on 27 November 1252 in Palais Du Louvre, Paris, France.1,2 King Charles I (of Sicily) became the father of King Charles II "le Boiteux" (the lame) of Naples, Sicily and Jerusalem in 1254.2 King Charles I (of Sicily) became a widower with the death of his wife, Beatrice (of Savoy) on 23 September 1267 in Nocera, Calabria, Italy.1,2 Charles I's son was married at wedding of King Charles II "le Boiteux" (the lame) of Naples, Sicily and Jerusalem and Princess Maria of Hungary in 1270.2
