.1,2 He was the son of King Louis VIII "the Lion" (of France) and Princess Blanche (of Castile).1,2 King Charles I (of Sicily) married first Beatrice (of Savoy), daughter of Count Raymond Berenger V (IV) (of Provence & Forcalquier) and Beatrice (of Savoy), on 31 January 1246.2 King Charles I (of Sicily) died on 7 January 1285 at Foggia Castle, Foggia, Apulia, Italy, at age 57.1,2 He was buried in Napoli, Apulia.1,2
