  • [S4338] Harold Bowditch Letters. Harold Bowditch (1883-1964) was keenly interested in Bowditch family history, wrote several articles for the New England Historical and Genealogical Register, and was the author of The Bowditch Family of Salem, Massachusetts, printed for a family Christmas gathering in 1936. The recipient of most of these letters, Frederick Tryon Bowditch (1897-1989), was also interested in the family history, and was the author of The Bowditch Family of Salem, Massachusetts - North Carolina Branch, 1524-1964. Harold had also earlier corresponded with Frederick's aunt Georgiana Abbot Bowditch (1848-1927), from whom he gathered information on the North Carolina branch of the family. The letter of 26 June 1942 includes a 44-page document on the descendants of Thomas Bowditch (abt 1733-1808). In possession of Charles Towne, Brecksville, Ohio.
