Subject: Fw: McDaniel Family

Sorry to respond so late. Thank you for marriage record of George McDaniel & Mariah Flint and Sarah McDaniel's obituary.
Re: "Rockaway in Talbot Co. Ga. Vol. III" Sarah married Leonard Hollis 12 May 1859. Their daughter Mary was 2 mo. old.
Monroe Hollis married Elizabeth McDaniel 7 Sept. 1859. Have not found marriage record of John R. Tillery and Sarah McDaniel.
I have the poor school records plus census records from 1840 to 1880 for George McDaniel. Sarah is in George's household in
1880 with son Leonard Hollis. Her daughter is married. John R. Tillery and wife Sarah with children are listed as John R.
Tilry in Harris Co., GA. on the 1870 census.

Effie Clark in letters and conversation connected Sarah McDaniel to John R. Tillery. She is the daughter of George Lafayette
Tillery son of Sarah McDaniel Hollis Tillery. We do not know when Sarah moved to Texas. James Marshall and George Lafayette
Tillery came with the Free family about 1897. James Marshall married Elizabeth Free and George Lafayette married her niece
Della Free. After some time Della wished to return to Barber Co., AL and they moved back there. In conversations with Effie
Clark I learned James Marshall had gone to see his mother about 1897 to ask why she had left them. Their conversation wasn't
repeated and there was no further contact. Sarah may have moved to Texas with her children and members of the Hollis family.
Monroe Hollis (her brother-in-law) is listed in the 1910 Harrison Co. TX census as a widower. His wife Elizabeth McDaniel
is dead. Sarah Tillery is listed in the 1910 census of Harrison Co., TX in the Leonard Hollis household. It is believed Sarah
stay in Texas until her death. I have not found a death certificate for Sarah. During that time period some deaths were
reported and some were not. Leonard Hollis' death certificate listed his death as 1921.

It is a reasonable assumption to conclude William is George's father. This web site William McDaniel Family at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~garichmo/bios/m/mcdnlwm.tex does not list George as William's child. Hiram McDaniel is listed as
a son. In 1850 Hiram has listed in his household, Roderick McDaniel age 85 from Scotland. The relationship is not listed.
Roderick could be Hiram's father or uncle.

Both Hiram and George had children in the poor school.

In the book "Rockaway in Talbot" an article titled "Story - McDaniel Family" The Story Mcdaniel house was built between 1850
&1860. J. R. McDaniel had bought it at auction. Owning it from 1881- 1947. His son William Wesley McDaniel (owned it from
1881 - 1925) father of George Lamar McDaniel ( d. 15 feb 1973, a well known carpenter) lived in the house 31 years.
Mr. McDaniel walked there with the author. He said that Anderson McDaniel, son of one of three brothers who came from
Scotland and his wife Mattie Story McDaniel are buried in unmarked graves. Have you seen any reference to three brothers?
This was my thrid time to come across a reference with a similar story.

This web site has listed "A" as middle initial for George. It further speculates the "A" maybe for Anderson.
