I am also from Birmingham. I now live in Texas. All of my family are still
in B'ham. Gantt Alabama is right in the middle between B'ham and
Sylacauga. Follow the hway between these cities and you will find it.
Carrey Gauntt was my Gr. Gr. grandfather. He was the son of Joseph Gauntt.
Carrey drowned in West Point Lake when he was 41. Levi Napoleon Gauntt or
Gantt was my gr. grandfather. He lived in Lanette, Al. Chambers co. Which
is on the Ga. state line boardered by West Point Ga. The story I have is
that part of the Gantt's stayed in South Carolina, part in Ga., part in
Chambers and Randolph co. Al., and part went to Gantt Al. Hope this helps
