     He was born circa 1866 at England.1
     Stephen A. Motta died on 5 December 1936, possibly in Minneapolis, at Minnesota, USA.1
     His widow survived, but was not named.1
     He was commonly known as Steve.2 He immigrated circa 1884 to Manitoba, Canada, from England.1
     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper The Winnipeg Tribune published in Winnipeg, Manitoba 7 December 1936:
Stephen A. Motta, 70, Mining Engineer, To Be Buried in Minneapolis
     MINNEAPOLIS. Dec. 7.--Masonic funeral rites for Stephen A. Motta, long active in the order and past grand master ot York Grand Lodge of Mexico, will be conducted here Tuesday. He died Saturday at the age of 70.
     Mr. Motta was a mining engineer and spent 18 years in old Mexico. Born in England, Mr. Motta came to Winnipeg at the age of 18 and lived In Canada about 10 years.
     Surviving are his widow, a brother, George, of Moose Jaw, and four sisters, Mrs. M. McManus, Los Angeles; Mrs. Frank Courtley, Hot Springs, Ark; Mrs. Richard Grant, Vancouver, and Mrs. William Blair, Winnipeg. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery here.1
