     He was born on 5 April 1859 at Lawrenceburg, Lawrenceburg Twp., Dearborn County, Indiana, USA.3,2,6,8,4,9,10,11 Alternatively, he may have been born circa 1861 at Ohio, USA, in the 1920 census, but obiously incorrect since he was included in the 1860 census.12 Charles married Mary Elouise Dunklin in December 1891.8,4,13,12,7,14,11
     Charles Hill Bostic died on 29 December 1932 at Malden, Cotton Hill Twp., Dunklin County, Missouri, USA, at age 73. Note that his obituary indicates he died the night of Friday, Dec 30th, rather than the previous evening.7,15
      The informant on his death registration was his wife, Mary Elouise Bastic. His parents were identified as John D. Bastic and Marth Langdale.10 The cause of his death was given as Chronic Myocarditis, contributed to by influenza from Nov 21 to 26, 1932.7
     Charles Hill Bostic was buried on 1 January 1933 at Park Cemetery, Malden, Cotton Hill Twp., Dunklin County, Missouri, USA.7,11
     He was commonly known as Charley.6
     Charles appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Lawrenceburg, Lawrenceburg Twp., Dearborn County, Indiana in the household of his parents, John and Martha Bostic.3

     Charley appeared on the 1880 Federal Census Lawrenceburg Twp., Dearborn County, Indiana in the household of his parents, John and Martha Bostic, listed as working as a clerk in a grocery.6
     Charles H. and Mary E. Bastic appeared on the 1900 U.S. Federal Census of Malden, Cotton Hill Twp., Dunklin County, Missouri, enumerated 7 June 1900, described as a bookkeeper. Their children: John M., Charles H. and James L., were listed as living with them. As was his sister-in-law, Camille Dunklin.8
     Charles and Mary E. Bostic appeared on the 1910 U.S. Federal Census of West Plains, Howell Twp., Howell County, Missouri, enumerated 19 April 1910, described as a bookkeeper for a lumber company. Their children: John M., Charles H. and James M., were listed as living with them.4
     Charles H. and Mary E. Bostic appeared on the 1920 U.S. Federal Census of Malden, Cotton Hill Twp., Dunklin County, Missouri, enumerated 3 February 1920, described as a bookkeeper in a bank. Their children: John M. and James W., were listed as living with them.12
     Charles H. and Mary E. Bostic appeared on the 1930 U.S. Federal Census of Malden, Cotton Hill Twp., Dunklin County, Missouri, enumerated 8 April 1930, described as a city clerk.9
     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper The Twice-A-Week Dunklin Democrat published in Kennett, Missouri 3 January 1933:
PROMINENT CITIZEN OF MALDEN IS DEAD
     Funeral services for Charles Hill Bostic, prominent citizen of Malden, who dropped died last Thursday night, were held Sunday afternoon at the Baptist church in that city Sunday afternoon, and burial was in Park Cemetery, the Reverend Mitchell Wright conducting the services.Mr. Bostic, w
     ho was a native to Indiana, and who was a prominent citizen of Now Madrid County before moving to this county, had lived at Maiden since about 1890, having been employed as bookkeeper for the Behymar-Lemlng Lumber Co., the Roberts Cotton Oil Col, and for 13 years with the Allen Store Co. He had served as city clerk of Malden for four terms, finishing his 12th consecutive year at the time of his death. Ha was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Missionary Baptist Church. Mr;
     Bostic had worked late at his office Thursday night going to his home about 9 o'clock. After making some casual remark to his wife, he went to an adjoining room, and his wife heard him fall. She went to his side, called a son. James, who lived nearby, but the father was dead before the son arrived.
     Born April 5, 1859 at Lawrenceburg, Ind., Mr. Bostic came to Missouri when quite young, and lived for about 20 years at Portageville, where he operated a grocery store, and also was employed as bookkeeper for the DeLisle Supply Co. In December, 1891, he was married to Mira Mayme Dunklin, member of a pioneer family of New Madrid County.
     In addition to his widow, Mr. Bostic is survived by three sons, John and James Bostic of Malden, and Charles, Jr. of Jefferson city.11


     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper the Sikeston Standard published in Sikeston, Missouri 6 January 1933:
FUNERAL FOR VETERAN MALDEN, MO., CITY CLERK
      Malden, Mo., January 3.—Funeral services were held here Sunday for Charles Hill Bastic (sic), city clerk at Malden for twelve years. He died suddenly of heart disease Friday night at the age of 73. He is survived by the widow, Mayme Bastic; three sons, John and James of Malden, Charles of Jefferson City, and three grandchildren.15


     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper the Word and Way published in Kansas City, Missouri 26 January 1933:
Bostic[:CR:]     Charles H. Bostic, a faithful deacon in the Maiden Baptist Church, passed away very suddenly at his home December 29, 1932. His funeral was held at his church Sunday afternoon, January 1, conducted by his pastor. A large audience wa,s present to pay their respects to the deceased friend and brother. The text used was John 14:2, "I go to prepare a place for you."
     Brother Bostic was a faithful man in all of his relationships, and he filled many places of trust. In the church he had been a deacon for years and he seldom missed a service. He will ' be greatly missed in this community, and especially in his church.
     He leaves his faithful wife who has always joined him in all his church and Christian activities and she will miss him most.
     He also leaves three sons and three grandsons. He had a happy home life and a happy church life and lived to be. nearly seventy-four.
     His pastor feels the loss of a faithful helper as he has been a wise counselor through these years, trying years on churches and pastors.
     We bow submissively to the will of our Master and his.16
