Stephen James Briggs 19, died Aug.31,2003, from injuries sustained from an automobile accident on Highway 34 near Osceola [IA].
Stephen was born Feb.6,1984, to Sharon Lewis Briggs and Tim Briggs in Santa Maria, California.
He graduated from Fresno High School in Fresno, California in 2002. He was employed at Kum & Go in Greenfield [IA] prior to enrolling at Graceland University in Lamoni [IA] in Aug.
Stephen was an active member of the Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Greenfield. He was devoted to his church. He loved performing on stage and had been awarded a theatre scholarship to Graceland University. He also enjoyed working with children with disabilities and had gone to Ames [IA] this summer to help with the Special Olympics.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
He is survived by his mother Sharon Briggs and companion Ray Ketchum of Greenfield; father Tim Briggs of Fresno. California; sister Crystal Briggs and niece Katelynn of Fresno, California; brother Gabriel Briggs of San Diego, California; great-aunts Grace Lowe and Doris Lewis both of Greenfield; other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held Thursday Sept.4,2003 at the United Methodist Church in Greenfield with the Rev.Bryan Anderson officiating and Gabriel Briggs reader.
Music was provided by Jamie Taylor, vocalist.
Interment will be at a later date.
Professional services were provided by Steen Funeral Homes.
