4 He was in the Civil War in 1862. He enlisted 14 August 1862, in the 74th Illinois S. V., Company A; was in battles of Stone River, Perryville, Murfreesborg and smaller skirmishes, serving three years and honorably discharged July, 1865.
He contracted a variety of diseases that eventually disabled him.

[Anna or Ama], 10, born in Illinois' Flora, 4, born in Iowa; and Willis, 1, born in Iowa; a farm laborer and a school teacher.

Sweet, Sylvester, farmer, Section 22; PO Waucoma; born in Berkshire Co., Mass., in 1823. Married Melissa Wood in 1850; she was born in Berkshire Co., Mass in 1830; have six children living --- Marcellus S., George A., Agnes M., Amy M., Flora M and Emma I.; lost one child, William C. First settled in Winnebago Co., Illinois, in 1855, where he lived until he enlisted August 14, 1862, in the 74th Ill. S. V., Co. A; was in battles of Stone River, Perryville, Murfreesborg and smaller skirmishes, serving three years and honorably discharged July, 1865. He soon after came to this county and settled on his present estate of 160 acres. Holds office of Road Supervisor at the present time.
