Thanks for your response. It is difficult to catch up after being on vacation and sick as well! Hope you are improving!

The Foudray family I'm searching on is John H Foudray and Nancy L. Helphenstine (born 1833 and 1837). John H's parents were Sacheverell Foudray.
John H and Nancy had 8 children, Nancy E, Anastasia, Malinda, John Charles, Lilly Dale, Samuel P, Robert and Daniel. (all of these are in your postings on ancestry, some have been recently updated or corrected with information I'd provided to Irene Parrott). This Robert would be my grandfather. He married Myrtle Self and they had 4 children, Zelma, Roman (my father), Eva, and Allen. Robert, Myrtle, Zelma, Roman, Eva and Allen all appear in the 1900 census in Poplar Plains, KY together as a family group.

However, Myrtle went into a sanitorium for TB treatment around 1900, the children were placed in foster homes, but never adopted by the families they lived with. My father, Roman, and Zelma, the oldest, were in touch through the years, but were silent on the "family" subject. Basically, they didn't know where their father was, pretty much thought he was an SOB, and didn't hope to see him any time again, ever.

The puzzle is that in 1910, a Robert L. Foudray, married to Catherine (Kate) Johnston appear in the1910 census in California with an oldest son, Richard, born in Kentucky in November of 1900, another son born in Ohio, Theodore. In the 1920 census they live in the same place in California, and also in the 1930 census in the same place in California (now with a daughter, Ethyl). However, Robert died in 1929, but the rest of the family was still together. I have his obituary which says (agrees with census) that he was born in Kentucky (so was Catherine Johnston). I'm wondering if this Robert in CAlifornia is the same that was in Kentucky in this family grouping. I have not been able to find another Robert, born in Kentucky (or anywhere else actually), who fits within the same year range for birth from 1870 to 1872, I think. There are some discrepancies in census info on age vs birth date. I would like to find out if this Robert in CAlifornia is one in the same from Kentucky in 1900. I have no divorce records, perhaps he's a biggamist! Ha! Also the 1910 census asks for number of years married and it shows 12. It also asks for number of marriages, and it says 1. That information, if true, would not totally jive with what we "think" we know. I would like to track down one of the children or grand children from the California group to see if they know any information on Robert. All the information I have on this group is from the obituaries from Robert in 1929 and from his daughter Ethyl, I told you of in the previous email. I thought perhaps you might know of this family of Foudrays in California or that this group might be relatives of your wife.
