My name is Deborah Bronnes Sturgill and I am hoping to share some information about the Miller family with you. My father was Hugh R. Bronnes "Sonny." He lived with the Millers in 1931 and 1932, and prior to his death, shared memories of Bud and Babe Miller. He especially remembered Mary, she walked him to the Elliot school and was a few years older than him. He believed her to be Verle's sister's daughter. My father's mother was Helene Bronnes and she is said to have married Verle "Bud" Miller. She is shown in the 1930 census as living with Clarence H. Miller and his son Verle R. "Bud" Miller. Interestingly enough, Gertrude B. Miller and my father, Hugh R. Bronnes are not listed in that same census. My father also remembered that he was "boarded out" from time to time and lived with Chester (Chet) and Olive (Ollie) Ward in the 1930's in Battleground, WA. Chester Ward and Gertrude B. Ward Miller were cousins. The Ward family lived in Battleground, WA and have a huge family history at the Clark County [WA] Historical Society. My father told me that Chester and Olive Ward were going to adopt him, but his mother sent him to New York to be raised by his grandparents. I am very interested in how I can obtain information from the records of James Casto, and I am most interested in finding Mary. I know that she lived either in the same home or next door as she and my father walked to school together. I do know that Verle's sister married Waldo Nettleton, according to records, but I find no mention of children.
