ObituaryMar 15, 2002SLOAN DAVID L., JR., 85 of Kimberton, PA and Harbor Cove, North Port, FL, died peacefully at Phoenixville Hospital Friday, March 15, 2002. The former proprietor of Corner Cupboard Antiques and World War II veteran was born in Elkton, MD September 20, 1916, son of David L. and Elizabeth Virginia Perkins Sloan. He attended Lower Merion High School, Drexel University and the University of Delaware. On July 1, 1938 he married Louise Steel, the daughter of Dr. Walter Hossinger and Kathryn Pié Steel. He worked for the Charles E. Hires Co. where he became Director of Quality Control. He was a past president of the American Society of Soft Drink Technologists. He was an active volunteer in the community, a former Scoutmaster, and Rosemont Community Association officer. In 1961 he founded Corner Cupboard Antiques. Mr. Sloan is survived by his wife of 64 years, Louise of Kimberton, PA, and North Port, FL; a son Tod and his wife Eileene of Fort Lauderdale, FL; daughters Kathy Sloan of Kimberton, PA, Karen and her husband Bill Flagg of Warren Point, Warwick Township, PA and 4 grandchildren Kristin Alfaro, David L. Sloan IV, Dean Flagg and Christopher Flagg. A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, March 19, 10:00 A.M. at St. John's, East Main Street, Newark, DE. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in his name to Green Valleys Association, PO Box 113, Birchrunville, PA 19421. Arrangements by R.T.
