301Conclusions - These probate proceedings support the view that this James Scriven of Wayne Co, NC was the father of Isaac Scriven (ca 1719-1772) and the grandfather of Susannah Scriven, who married Elijah Hinson. The orphan child listed in the probate documents as named Isaac Scriven is probably the male<16 yrs listed in the 1790 census in the household of James Scriven. the relationship of the orphan Isaac Scriven to this James Scriven is not known but he might be a previously unknown grandson, a son of Isaac Scriven (ca 1719-1772), Joseph Scriven (1734-?), or William Scriven (1727-1818)
Another prominently named individual, Nathan Pike, was the only son of Samuel Pike Jr and Sarah Overman and the only brother of Patience Pike who married Isaac Scriven.
The other prominently named individual, Elener Scriven, is currently unknown and has unknown relationships to this James Scriven.
James' neighbor Patience Dawson is believed to be the former Patience Pike b. 1738 in Pasquotank, NC. It is believed that James Scriven had a son Isaac. Isaac Scriven moved from Rhode Island circa 1747 to Core Sound MM, Pasquotank Co., NC to marry. Isaac married Patience Pike circa 1747 and had children Susanna b. 1760, Hannah, and Patience. By 1769, Isaac and Patience had returned to Dobbs Co. Isaac died in 1772. Patience married (2) Joseph Dawson circa 1777 and they had one child Jesse. Joseph Dawson died circa 1784. Patience kept her name Patience Dawson for the 1790 and 1800 Wayne Co., NC census. Patience died in 1803.
James' neighbor Elijah Hinson had served in the Revolutionary War 1778-1779. After his service Elijah married Isaac and Patience Scriven's daughter Susannah Scriven between 1779-1781. They had 10 children.
By the confluence of these families and events, it is possible, even probable, that this James Scriven is James Scriven, from Rhode Island, father of Isaac Scriven, also of Rhode Island.
