Research notes for Elijah HINSON
The Newsletter of the VA Genealogical Society suggested that this Elijah might be the Elijah HINSON who traveled to NC. 887 However, research at Library of Virginia shows that this Elijah HINSON, born 27 May 1754 in Stafford Co., VA, son of George HINSON and Sarah Sullivan, 874 IS NOT Elijah HINSON, Revolutionary War veteran from NC, son of George HINSON and Phebe ____! Proof:
Elijah HINSON, Revolutionary War veteran served 7/1778-4/1779 and in 1779-1789 had land transactions in NC. He appears in the 1790 census in Wayne Co., NC.
This Elijah HINSON, of Stafford Co., VA was assessed tithables, along with his mother Sarah HINSON, by Stafford Co., VA for years 1784 through 1790 and appeared in the 1787 and 1790 census for VA.
Thus while it may still be possible that these two Elijah HINSONs were fathered by the same George HINSON, these two Elijah HINSONs are NOT the same person!
