Notes for Catherine Flagler DE LA VERGNE
From her obituary as published in "The Annals of Henry Co."
...They made their home in Marietta, OH, then (ca 1860) in Pomona, Cumberland Co., TN, coming to Missouri at the close of the war. Two little sons were buried in New York and only the three surviving daughters are known to Clinton people - Mrs. Amelia Snyder, Mrs. Angus Clark Avery, and Mrs. Kate Zener, now in New York City.
The old Dodge home was one of the brightest and sweetest in Clinton. It was at the corner of 2nd and Grand River, where Dr. Powers now has his handsome home. Mr. Dodge died 15 years ago and since then Mrs Dodge has made her home with her children. She had two brothers to live past 90. One of them, Rev. James De La Vergne, who came to Clinton as a missionary at the close of the war, so lovingly remembered by all residents of that day. She was the youngest of her father's family and the last to depart. A member of the First Presbyterian Church for 60 years. The funeral was at the Avery home and the casket was half covered with beautiful lilies and rare roses. Burial beside her husband in Englewood.244
