Welcome! This genealogy website is an easy-to-navigate presentation of Jon & Cheryl Lee (Hanson) Avery and their ancestors, descendants and other relatives.

It includes related family lines with different spellings of the surname such as "Hinson" and "Every". It also includes family lines with close y-DNA matches but for which the common male ancestor shared between the family lines has not been identified. The information about certain living people is restricted to protect their privacy.

Home - enters at the Family Card of Jon & Cheryl Avery.

Avery - enters at the Family Card of Meyer Avery & Dorcas Fredericks of Dutchess County, NY in the early 1700s. Meyer, and his son Peter, are the earliest known direct ancestors of Jon Avery.

Hinson - enters at the Family Card of George Hinson & Margaret Mozingo of Colonial Virginia and Pre-Revolutionary North Carolina. George, and his son Elijah, are the earliest known direct ancestors of Cheryl Avery.

Snyder - enters at the Family Card of Anton and Margaret Snyder/Schneider of Pre-Revolutionary Nazareth, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. This family descends to Frances Didcoct Snyder, Jon Avery’s mother.

Pound Ridge - enters at the Family Card of Elisha (The Elder) Avery, the earliest known ancestor of an Avery clan that lived around Pound Ridge, Westchester County, NY. Elisha, and his direct male descendants share a close DNA match with Jon Avery although the common male ancestor has not been identified.

Benjamin - enters at the Family Card of Benjamin Avery of Westerlo, Albany County, NY. Benjamin and his direct male descendants share the closest known DNA match with Jon Avery although the common male ancestor has not been identified.

Much as I wish it otherwise, some Family Cards, Person Sheets and other web pages have minimal information or no sources referenced for the information. This simply reflects the never-ending search for genealogical data and the occasional inclusion of information which is probable but not proven from a reliable source.
